In this article, we'll explore how mindfulness can be applied effectively at the poker tables.<\/p><p style=\"font-size:15px\">On February 28, our athletes and staff had the opportunity to listen to the speaker Dr. M\u00e1rio Rodrigues, Psychologist and Neuropsychologist, who as a researcher, seeks to be integrated into projects that explore the applicability of interventions based on Mindfulness, as well as psychological interventions in a clinical context. In the context of poker, this means being completely focused on the game, without worrying about past or future results. By developing this awareness, you can make clearer, more conscious decisions, rather than acting impulsively based on emotions or distracted thoughts.<\/p><div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Integrating Mindfulness into Poker Decisions<\/strong><\/h2><p style=\"font-size:15px\">When applying <strong><em>mindfulness<\/em><\/strong> in poker decisions, athletes can stop, reflect and recognize their emotions before they act. For example, if they are facing a big bet, they can notice if they are feeling anxious or nervous and use that awareness to make a more informed decision. <strong>Focus on the present<\/strong> also helps athletes avoid getting caught up in past results or future concerns, allowing them to make decisions based on the information available at the time.<\/p><div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Managing Stress and Pressure<\/strong><\/h2><p style=\"font-size:15px\">Poker can be a highly stressful game, especially during times of <strong><em>deep runs <\/em><\/strong><em>or<\/em><strong><em> final tables<\/em><\/strong>. The practice of <strong><em>mindfulness<\/em><\/strong> offers effective strategies for dealing with stress and pressure. For example, <strong>conscious breathing techniques<\/strong> can help athletes calm their minds and bodies in high-pressure situations. In addition, by accepting the challenges of the game without judgment, athletes can maintain a balanced and centered perspective, even under intense pressure.<\/p><div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mindfulness Practices at the Tables<\/strong><\/h2><p style=\"font-size:15px\">There are various practices of <strong><em>mindfulness<\/em><\/strong> that athletes can do during the game to improve their performance. One of them is <strong><em>\u201cBody Scan\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, this is a practice in which athletes concentrate on each part of the body, noticing physical sensations without judgment. This helps to reduce anxiety and muscle tension, promoting a state of relaxation and focus. In addition, mindfulness of breathing is a simple but effective practice that can help athletes stay present and calm during poker sessions.<\/p><div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cultivating a Mindfulness Mentality<\/strong><\/h2><p style=\"font-size:15px\">Integrating <strong><em>mindfulness<\/em><\/strong> in daily life is key to reaping its benefits in poker and beyond. Setting aside regular time for <strong>meditation<\/strong> or the <strong>practice of mindful walking<\/strong> can help athletes cultivate a mindfulness mentality. This helps them develop a greater awareness of themselves and their surroundings, which can lead to greater emotional resilience and overall well-being.
