Ricardo Caridade
Caridade
Ricardo “Caridade” Caridade got to know poker in 2010, through his friends, but it wasn't until 2012 that he had his first online gaming experience at Bwin, and later at PokerStars.
He treated poker as a hobby and would occasionally deposit some of the money he earned from his work. Later, when he realized that poker was a game where there were many professionals, and that it was possible to “make a living” from it, he became more interested and decided to enroll in an American online poker school - Tournament Poker Edge.
As soon as he joined a team, the first results began to come in, which led him to start treating poker as a part-time job - he could do something he loved and earn some money at the same time.
To add to his experience, he had coaching from Brazilian Pessagno and Henrique Pinho from the PokerStars Pro Team.
In 2015, he entered his first staking experience with the Samba Poker Team. However, this coincided with the year in which online poker ended in Portugal, which meant that this experience lasted only 6 months.
Due to all these circumstances, it put out less volume until 2017, when it began to focus more on live gaming and websites allowed in Portugal.
Caridade felt his game stagnating, and in February 2017, after seeing an ad on Facebook, he decided to apply and join Polarize.
Since then, he has deepened his knowledge and gradually increased the number of hours he invests in poker, even becoming a Polarize Coach. In January 2021 he officially became a full-time poker professional.

Interview
The biggest milestones in Caridade's career were winning the GG Masters in March 2021, 4th place in the 10k HR at the EPT Prague - his first EPT, but above all, he highlights the fact that he was able to dedicate himself full-time when he already had a stable job in which he had been successful for more than 10 years.
One of his big dreams is to help poker become recognized in Portugal as a sport of the mind (like chess), rather than being considered a game of luck or chance. He would also like to see poker become an Olympic sport.
