Recently, José “Nominaliz” Diegues, our athlete of the Team Cash, took an important step in his career by climbing to the stakes of NL500. In an interview, he shared some of his biggest challenges, routines and the influence our team has had on his development. Let's find out more about this talented player's journey.

What were the main challenges you faced during your development as a professional cash player?

“The biggest challenges I have faced and continue to face are the challenges internal necessary to elevate my mental game and become a more professional player. These challenges include accept my emotions so that they don't define my decisions, maintain structured routines sleep, diet and exercise, and stop seeing results during my sessions. These elements combined are fundamental to improving my performance on the tables.”

Can you tell us what your routine is like on grind days?

“I wake up at 9h, I alternate between going to gym and study until 11:30 a.m., and lunch until 1 p.m., when I start or resume my work. When I have lessons to give my Polarize students, I like to start there; otherwise, I start playing right away. My goal is to play 6 hours a day, always taking at least one break during my session. When I finish before 21h30, I would like to take this opportunity to review of my session. I have my dinner and leisure from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., trying to get to bed around half past midnight.”

What skill do you think is essential for a player to become a successful cash game player?

“I don't think there's a intrinsic skill necessary to be successful in the cash game. I believe that anyone who really wants to can achieve the success in poker. The key to success in this area is a great taste and curiosity by the game, combined with a strong commitment with the work, both in technicians poker and mental game.”

What are your goals for this year? How is it going?

“The biggest goal I set for this year was to rise to NL500 and stabilize at this level. The first half of the year was a little slower, and the climb happened later than I had planned. However, I'm pleased to have been able to take this step, and now I'm focused on getting better. stabilize this new limit by the end of the year.”

You're one of Polarize's coaches. Do you feel that this position has also helped your game evolve?

“Definitely! As coach, I follow my students' work and I feel that, in a way, I'm doing something for them. experience various routes poker at the same time. This responsibility requires me to keep updated in my work as a player, because I need to master different topics in order to be able to explicar to my students. The exchange of ideas with them also helps me to see the game under different perspectives and questioning my own strategies. This process allows me to constantly development and improvement.”
