Samuel “amarovski” Amaro: His journey at Team Cash

Samuel “amarovski” Amaro started playing poker in 2015/2016, when PokerStars returned to Portugal. For the first few years, he played cash and sit n’ gos, but recognizes that he wasn't good at any of the variants. At that amateur stage, he was still studying and saw poker only as a hobby.

In June 2020, Samuel “amarovski” Amaro entered our Team Cash to grind to stake NL10. Before joining the team, I had already experienced the stake lowest of cash, NL2.

Our professional footballer is about to reach a significant milestone in his career: make the leap to NL500. In this exclusive interview, Samuel shares with us his journey from his first steps in poker to his most ambitious goals for this year. 

From NL10 to NL200: The rise in stakes 🚀

Samuel's journey at Polarize began at stake of NL10 and is now grind with NL200 consistency. Note that Samuel has played more than 560,000 hands this year! In fact, this rise in stakes is a concrete testament to his incredible progress and perseverance! 

We left 3 questions for “amarovski”…

How would you describe your journey since joining the Polarize Poker team until now? What have been the main milestones and highlights?

My journey started very well, I quickly rose from NL10 to NL25 and then to NL50. 

From NL50 to NL100 It took a little longer and NL100 is the stake I've been playing for the longest and with the most consistency.

NL200 is the highest stake I play at the moment, I started by giving a shot in 2022 and it went well, but then I had quite a long period when it went badly... I went through a process of recovering from playing 100 and shooting 200 when it got better. 

That year, 2024, was when I started getting consistent results in NL200. 

What do you think will be the biggest difference in this stake?

The biggest difference in climbing the stakes is the quality of the regular players. They have increasingly strong theoretical notions, which means they make fewer mistakes and better exploit the mistakes others make;

What are your goals for this year?

I've set myself two goals for this year:

• Settling in NL500;
• Play 1 million hands.

Samuel faced some difficult times, especially on the way up to the NL200, before settling in stake consistently. However, with determination, stoicism and the support of his Team, he overcame this phase and established himself as a consistent professional NL200 player. 

He is undoubtedly an example of dedication and hard work for his teammates. With clear goals for 2024, Samuel is determined to establish himself in NL500 and play 1 million hands! And remember that he's well on his way, since he's already grinded more than 560,000 hands! Which just goes to show that hard work, dedication and ambition will certainly take you to new heights of success.
