Thomas Santerne wins the EPT Paris 2024 Super High Roller for €889,480
Although Thomas Santerne has only modest experience in high-level live tournaments, he has already joined the ranks of the EPT Super High Roller champions. Santerne won the €50,000 event at Le Palais des Congrès in Paris for a prize of €889,480.
Santerne, originally from Normandy, became the first Frenchman to win an EPT Super High Roller in nine years, following Sylvain Loosli's triumph at the 2015 EPT Barcelona.
With today's prize, Santerne has more than doubled his winnings in live tournaments. He has only participated in a few high buy-in events, starting last year after winning two big prizes online.

Atualizações ao vivo e resumo do PokerNews Santerne voltou para o último dia com o segundo maior stack de fichas, apenas atrás do campeão reinante Chris Brewer, que estava apenas alguns big blinds à frente.
With two short stacks on the table, Santerne took advantage of the ICM's implications. He continued to increase his stack to put himself in a prime position to attack the main prize.
When Sirzat Hissou and Markkos Ladev were eliminated, Santerne controlled more than half of all the chips in play. He then eliminated Duco ten Haven and Pieter Aerts to set the stage for a head-to-head against Brewer.
Brewer, an experienced and versatile player, was outnumbered more than 2 to 1, but put up a strong fight. The American quickly pulled ahead when he doubled up with a straight. Santerne soon reversed the odds in his favor, but suffered a setback when Brewer hit a three-outer.
Another lead change came shortly afterwards; Santerne got the maximum with blocks to regain control, which he wouldn't lose despite Brewer hitting another three-outer for his tournament life.
When it was finally over and Santerne raised the trophy, he admitted that he still couldn't understand what he had achieved.
When Santerne wakes up tomorrow and walks down Le Palais des Congrès in Paris to take part in the EPT Main Event, I'm sure you've noticed by now: he won the most difficult event of the festival.
